Texas hold ‘em (also known as hold’em or holdem) is a variation of the standard card game of poker. The game consists of two cards being dealt face down to each player and then five community cards being placed by the dealer—a series of three (”the flop”) then two additional single cards (”the turn” and “the river”), with players having the option to check, bet or fold after each deal, i.e. betting may occur prior to the flop, “on the flop,” “on the turn,” and “on the river.”

There is a lot of equipment that police officers must rely on daily to keep them safe and protected, but the 
badge isn’t usually one of them. However, in Oakland, Tenn., officer Joshua Smith was very grateful he was wearing the thicker, heavier badge his Chief had just ordered.
During a fairly routine traffic stop, Smith was shot at by the driver and his Blackinton B2172 Badge stopped the bullet aimed for his chest.
“The chief said the officer was complaining about it being too heavy,” Oakland Mayor Bill Mullins said. “He said he wouldn’t be complaining anymore.”
In the early morning hours of Dec. 24, Smith had pulled over a Chevrolet Tahoe or Suburban for weaving in traffic with expired tags. He attempted to administer a field sobriety test, but a passenger exited the vehicle and refused to get back in. The passenger then said something to the driver in Spanish before pulling a knife.
The driver then drew a gun and shot Smith in the chest. The officer was knocked to the ground, but still managed to fire two shots at the fleeing suspects. The department did not know if he hit either of them.
Smith was wearing body armor, but the point blank shot could have penetrated it. The oval badge was a Blackinton B2172, and is made from a thick, 12-gauge, brass alloy with an applied seal – the district’s seal was virtually destroyed by the shot. The badge allowed Smith to walk away from the incident.
“We were very pleased to hear how our badge saved a life,” said Blackinton’s Director of Sales Tim Convery. “We told Chief Hogwood we’d be more than happy to make a new badge for the officer.”
Oakland Police Chief Keith Hogwood had ordered the heavier badges only a few months prior to the shooting. He admitted that their previous badges would not have been able to stop a bullet like the thicker Blackinton model did. Officer Smith was examined at Baptist Memorial Hospital-East in Oakland and released.
Blackinton plans to get the badge from the Oakland Police Department to be made into a memento for Officer Smith.
“We’ll encapsulate it in Lucite for him so he can have the badge as a souvenir for all-time,” said Convery.

The New Orleans Saints are a professional American football team based in New Orleans, Louisiana. The Saints play in the South Division of the National Football Conference (NFC) in the National Football League (NFL).
The Saints were founded in 1967 as an expansion team and played their home games at Tulane Stadium through the 1974 season. They went more than a decade before they managed to finish a season with a .500 record, two decades before having a winning season, and over four decades before reaching the Super Bowl. The team’s first successful years were from 1987–1992, when the team made the playoffs four times and had winning records in the non-playoff seasons. After becoming 13–0 with their win over the Atlanta Falcons, it marked the Saints’ best start to a season in its franchise history. The result clinched an NFC playoff berth, a bye in the first round of the playoffs. By winning their first 13 games, the Saints also set the record for the longest undefeated season opening (13-0) by an NFC team since the AFL–NFL merger, eclipsing the previous record (12-0) held by the 1985 Chicago Bears. The grey wolf or gray wolf, Canis lupus, often known simply as wolf, is the largest wild member of the 
Canidae family. It is an ice age survivor originating during the Late Pleistocene around 300,000 years ago. DNA sequencing and genetic drift studies reaffirm that the gray wolf shares a common ancestry with the domestic dog (Canis lupus familiaris). Although certain aspects of this conclusion have been questioned, including recently, the main body of evidence confirms it. A number of other gray wolf subspecies have been identified, though the actual number of subspecies is still open to discussion. Gray wolves are typically apex predators in the ecosystems they occupy. Though not as adaptable as more generalist canid species, wolves have thrived in temperate forests, deserts, mountains, tundra, taiga, grasslands, and even urban areas.
Though once abundant over much of Eurasia and North America, the gray wolf inhabits a very small portion of its former range because of widespread destruction of its territory, human encroachment, and the resulting human-wolf encounters that sparked broad extirpation. Even so, the gray wolf is regarded as being of least concern for extinction according to the International Union for Conservation of Nature, when the entire gray wolf population is considered as a whole. Today, wolves are protected in some areas, hunted for sport in others, or may be subject to extermination as perceived threats to livestock and pets.
In areas where human cultures and wolves are sympatric, wolves frequently feature in the folklore and mythology of those cultures, both positively and negatively.
