Tin Signs – An Inexpensive Gift

 At 16 inches high and nearly 13 inches wide, tin signs are well-made, yet inexpensive ways to decorate dorm rooms, bars, offices, and nearly every room in the home. They come with two holes pre-drilled for easy hanging, but can also be propped in bookshelves or on ledges to make eye-catching vintage décor.  You can even put them in grouping in picture frames or matting to create a custom look.

Signs like these have been around for many years with some of the earliest advertising products such as Coca-Cola. Many of our most popular licensed tin signs feature not only Coca-Cola, but also Chevrolet, Ford, Buick, Budweiser, and many more popular brands.  They make best gift and not all that expensive too.  It even suprises people  when they recieve one as a gift and I no how hard it is to suprise certain people.

John Wayne was a legendary Hollywood actor who played a key role in establishing and popularizing the western genre in American cinema. Originally from Iowa and named Marion Mitchell Morrison, he started working in films as a scenery mover to put himself through college. His 6′ 4″ build, good looks, and Midwestern ease got him noticed on the lot and cast in the first epic western film in 1930. Over the years, John Wayne carved out a niche for himself, taking on roles as cowboys, soldiers, and other patriotic figures that transformed him into a role model of the American ideals of manhood, honor and courage.

Despite all of John Wayne’s on-screen military service, he never served in the armed forces. He was, however, a staunch supporter of World War II troops and the Vietnam War. His conservative values made him an outspoken partisan for President Richard Nixon, among others.

John Wayne starred in over 150 films in his lifetime and was one of the first hugely successful actors to emerge from the post-silent film era. His distinctive drawl, cool swagger and seemingly effortless talent were his trademark, and he is remembered as an icon of American pop culture and the silver screen. Many women thought that’s what ever man should be like. That’s why today even still is tin signs are still a hot seller long after his death. People still flock to read about this stars life or see his old movies. He was consider a mans man.

Designing a Vintage Room

Having a room for all manner of vintage paraphernalia from the 1930s, 1940s, and 1950s is a great idea to add aesthetic appeal to your home.  To get started creating a vintage room in your home, first address the walls.  Think about what people would see on the walls in the mid 1900s; whether it’s a vintage Pepsi sign or an advertisement for Pan-American airlines, create the right aesthetic beginning with the walls.  Next address the furniture: consider items like a jukebox, a vintage diner set, or a worn leather chair.  For the carpet, consider fun black and white tiles or even shag carpet. 

Once you’ve got the essential items down, make sure to add lots of little sculptures, figurines, and pieces of art that represent the era.  When the room is completed, you’ll have an excellent space to lounge, relax, and travel to the past.  Vintage rooms are great for guests as well; you might even think about adding a bed to make it a vintage guest room!

Pepsi Tin Sign – introduces 12 oz bottles

During the Great Depression, Pepsi gained popularity following the introduction in 1936 of a 12-ounce bottle. Initially priced at 10 cents, sales were slow, but when the price was slashed to five cents, sales increased substantially. With a radio advertising campaign featuring the jingle “Pepsi cola hits the spot / Twelve full ounces, that’s a lot / Twice as much for a nickel, too / Pepsi-Cola is the drink for you,” Pepsi encouraged price-watching consumers to switch, obliquely referring to the Coca-Cola standard of six ounces a bottle for the price of five cents (a nickel), instead of the 12 ounces Pepsi sold at the same price. Coming at a time of economic crisis, the campaign succeeded in boosting Pepsi’s status. In 1936 alone 500,000,000 bottles of Pepsi were consumed. From 1936 to 1938, Pepsi-Cola’s profits doubled. They advertised on tin signs to show there drop in price.

Pepsi’s success under Guth came while the Loft Candy business was faltering. Since he had initially used Loft’s finances and facilities to establish the new Pepsi success, the near-bankrupt Loft Company sued Guth for possession of the Pepsi-Cola company. A long legal battle, Guth v. Loft, then ensued, with the case reaching the Delaware Supreme Court and ultimately ending in a loss for Guth.

Pepsi is a carbonated beverage that is produced and manufactured by PepsiCo. It is sold in retail stores, restaurants, cinemas and from vending machines. The drink was first made in the 1890s by pharmacist Caleb Bradham in New Bern, North Carolina. The brand was trademarked on June 16, 1903. There have been many Pepsi variants produced over the years since 1898, including Diet Pepsi, Crystal Pepsi, Pepsi Twist, Pepsi Max, Pepsi Free, Pepsi AM, Pepsi Samba, Pepsi Blue, Pepsi Gold, Pepsi Holiday Spice, Pepsi Jazz, Vanilla Pepsi, Pepsi X (available in Finland and Brazil), Pepsi Next (available in Japan and South Korea), Pepsi Raw, Pepsi Retro in Mexico, Pepsi One, Pepsi Ice Cucumber and Pepsi White in Japan. Yes, but we can still treasury all the old soda pop tin signs designed by Pepsi.

In October 2008, Pepsi announced they would be redesigning its logo and re-branding many of its products by early 2009. In 2009, Pepsi, Diet Pepsi and Pepsi Max began using all lower-case fonts for name brands, and Diet Pepsi Max was re-branded as Pepsi Max. The brand’s blue and red globe trademark became a series of “smiles,” with the central white band arcing at different angles depending on the product. As of January 2009, Pepsi’s newer logos have only been adopted in the United States. Currently, Pepsi Wild Cherry and Pepsi ONE are the only two Pepsi products that continue to use the 2003 design. Diet Pepsi Wild Cherry, Diet Pepsi Lime, and Diet Pepsi Vanilla received the redesign.

BOOP’S BACK ON THE SILVER SCREEN

Several Betty Boop shorts preserved by the UCLA Film and Television Archive, along with new prints struck from original nitrate negatives, titillated movie-goers in 1995 in a critically acclaimed feature-length cartoon retrospective called BETTY BOOP CONFIDENTIAL. Among the classics included in the compilation is SNOW WHITE – a Betty Boop short featuring Cab Calloway that was added to the National Film Registry of the Library of Congress in 1996 – which was produced years before the Disney feature of the same name. Betty Boop has been a long time favorite of so many people, some believe she real and not just a cartoon character. She will live in the hearts of many and live on with her character tin signs.

Plans Set to Open New Musical on Broadway in the 2010-2011 Season

Betty Boop, a new musical, will feature music by 15-time Grammy® Award winner David Foster, with book by Sally Robinson and Oscar Williams. The show is planning to debut on Broadway in the 2010-2011 season at a Nederlander theatre to be announced.

Betty Boop is produced by Ostar Productions. Additional members of the creative team and a production schedule will be confirmed at a later date.

The name and talent of David Foster as one of music’s most acclaimed songwriters and producers is the stuff of legend. Having spent the last four decades creating hits for stars including Celine Dion, Barbra Streisand, Whitney Houston, Josh Groban, Earth, Wind + Fire, Chicago, Andrea Bocelli, Michael Buble’ and scores of others, this 45-time Grammy® nominee, three-time recipient of The Grammy® Producer of the Year and Academy Award nominee has achieved extraordinary levels of success. His new DVD “HIT MAN – David Foster + Friends,” part of the prestigious Great Performances Series on PBS, is scheduled to be released on November 11th as is his autobiography, “HIT MAN: 40 Years Making Music, Topping Charts + Winning Grammies.” Betty Boop will mark his Broadway debut.

Sally Robinson is best known as a writer in film and television, with credits including “Family” (for which she received the Humanitas Award with an episode starring Henry Fonda, directed by Joanne Woodward) and HBO’s Emmy-nominated “Iron Jawed Angels” starring Hilary Swank, as well as the movies, “Medicine Man” starring Sean Connery and “Far Off Place” produced by Disney and Steven Spielberg.

Betty Boop is one of the most iconic animated creations of the 20th century. First introduced in the 1930s, Betty Boop was created by Max Fleischer for his “Talkartoons” series, the first “talkies” of animation, which Max’s company, Fleischer Studios, produced for Paramount. Mae Questel provided Betty’s distinctive voice. By 1932 Betty, considered to be the first and only female animated screen star, had taken the country by storm. Betty starred in more than 100 cartoons, 90 of which are included in the official “Betty Boop” series, which ended in 1939. Since then, Betty has appeared in dozens of hit movies, television specials and commercials. She was the first cartoon character to be profiled by A&E’s “Biography” series.  Also to have a wide variety of character tin signs done with her on them along with her very own web site.

Dale Earnhart Tin Sign – Tribute

Ralph Dale Earnhardt, Sr. (April 29, 1951 – February 18, 2001) was an American race car driver, best known for his career driving stock cars in NASCAR’s top division. Earnhardt had four children, Kerry, Kelley Earnhardt Elledge, Dale Jr., and Taylor Earnhardt. His widow, Teresa Earnhardt (whom he married in 1982) was the owner of Dale Earnhardt, Inc., the race team and merchandising corporation Earnhardt founded with her in February 1980. The team has since merged with Chip Ganassi and is now known as Earnhardt Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates.[1]

Dale Earnhardt is known for his success in the Winston Cup Series, now known as the Sprint Cup Series. He won seventy-six races (including his only Daytona 500 victory in 1998), and his seven championships are tied for most all-time with Richard Petty. His highly aggressive driving style made him a fan favorite and earned him the nicknames “Ironhead”, “Mr. Restrictor Plate”, “The Man in Black” and most famously, “The Intimidator.” His fans loved and honored such a special character.

Earnhardt died in a last-lap crash during the 2001 Daytona 500,[2] the fourth NASCAR driver to die in a nine month period that began with the death of Adam Petty in May 2000. On October 4, 2001 Blaise Alexander died in a ARCA race car crash at Lowe’s Motor Speedway, suffering from the same life ending injuries as Dale Earnhardt. After 6 deaths in less than two years NASCAR began an intensive focus on safety that has seen the organization begin to require the use of head-and-neck restraints such as the HANS device,[3] oversee the installation of SAFER barriers at all oval tracks, set rigorous new rules for seat-belt and seat inspection, develop a roof-hatch escape system (used briefly, but later eliminated), and develop a next-generation race car built with extra driver safety in mind, dubbed the Car of Tomorrow.

It’s hard to believe that June lst marks the75th Anniversary of Norma Jeane Baker’s birth. Born in a Los Angeles charity ward, Norma Jeane began her career as a model, and later changed her name to amore magnetic-sounding moniker, Marilyn Monroe. It has been well over three decades since the infamous Marilyn has passed yet still, her mystique continues to mesmerize millions of fans. Even the hippest amongus are captivated by this luminescent beautywho exuded innocence and sexuality at the same time.
Through out her 36 years-and long after her death-Marilyn’s private life has always been a topic of public interest. Her three marriages (the first when she was only 16) and multiple affairs were no secret. Less well known, however, was the screen legend’s enduring infatuation with Gotham. Marilyn loved everything about the city, and the city returned the affection. New Yorkers immediately wrapped their collective arms around that amazing frame and never let go.
